Our Board of Directors
Our board members are elected for two-year terms and are mandated to carry out their activities according to established Islamic principles in accordance to the Qur’an and Sunnah.
The MCC is an umbrella organization for two charitable organizations, namely Muslim Association of Calgary (MAC) and the Muslim Community Foundation of Calgary (MCFC). MCC Board of Directors are elected / nominated within the Calgary city area as stipulated in the Bylaws or else as resolved and approved by the Board. These Bylaws are the main guiding principles for the running of affairs of the organization with subsequent approvals by the board or membership. The MCFC and MAC are responsible for the collection of donations at all their facilities, maintaining accounts, reporting financial statements to CRA and providing tax-deductible receipts to their membership/donors. The MAC and the MCFC oversee the operations of their district centers through management committees; purchases, rent and maintenance of the numerous facilities, including all places of worship and educational centers throughout the city of Calgary and Brooks or any other location as deemed necessary. Each facility or center has a management committee which works directly under the MCC Board of Directors, and which manages the day-to-day operations of the same.
